Vision Becomes Reality.
Sara is a trained cantor with a beautiful voice who was hired to
be the part time cantor for a Jewish synagogue. When she first started
her job her goals were to become proficient in the music and the
liturgy. She had two preschool children so part time work was exactly
what she needed.
Not willing to be mediocre at anything however Sara set very high
standards for herself. As time went on the demands of her children,
husband and the synagogue became all consuming and she had no time
for herself. Suddenly she began to see all the things that were
missing in her life and it made her angry, cynical and frustrated.
In our coaching sessions Sara began to create a detailed vision
of the life she wanted. Writing down her vision helped Sara to focus
on the possibilities rather than problems. Little by little she
found ways to create pieces of her dream at work and at home.
Finally one day she got a request from a synagogue in another state
to come for an "interview". In our coaching sessions Sara
had identified her true values. It was apparent to her immediately
that this congregation shared those values. Having clearly defined
her vision she sensed almost immediately that this was the right
place for her. She accepted the new job and two and half years later
she is extremely happy and delighted she made the change.
"The work you and I did made me see my first position not
as a "mistake" but as a great learning experience ---
one that prepared me for what I am now doing. Writing down my
vision of what I wanted in my life helped me to know the offer
I got was the right one for me. I didn't even think about it at
the time though. Months later, either packing or unpacking, I
found the piece of paper. I was stunned to read what amounted
to a description of my new synagogue. That was really incredible."
Sara found her Road to Success by envisioning her dream
job. Are you unhappy in the job you are in currently? Do you want
to find a way to make your job and your life more profitable and
fulfilling?
